Up in the mountains of northern Arizona near the Grand Canyon lies a sleepy little town called Williams, also known as the Gateway to the Grand Canyon. A rustic Route 66 motor lodge from the 1940's sits along the edge of this tiny town. It's called The Canyon Motel and RV Park.
The Youngs sold and hocked almost everything they owned to buy the old fixer upper, classic motel. And they left behind lucrative careers with a very famous hotel chain, the crowded big city environment, and the fast-paced California life as they moved to Williams.
Williams had been a major hub for the railroad in the late 1800's and early 1900's. Being an old railroad community, the Youngs moved two authentic, original 1929 cabooses onto The Canyon Motel property and transformed them into deluxe lodging suites. They also brought in a 1950's Grand Canyon Pullman railcar and turned it into lodging quarters.
Kevin and Shirley were part-time RV'ers, and they decided that a recreational vehicle and camping park would be ideal on the motel's 13 acres. They opted for quality over quantity to preserve the area's unique landscape.
The Youngs say it's exciting to offer a once-in-a-lifetime lodging experience to guests from around the world. They welcome you with open arms as you come live their dream and escape from the ordinary at The Canyon Motel and RV Park, also known as the Red Caboose Motel!
